5 Card Stud Poker - Online Poker Game
Five Card Draw is a draw poker game. In other words,
players must draw cards to make the best possible hand.
Of course, to draw cards, they must first trade in
cards. Each house determines the specific rules, as far
as how many cards can be swapped during each round.
Generally, the game is opened by the low card, however,
it is also common for the high card to open and it makes
no difference at all in the progress of the game. After
the completion of this betting round each player gets
another face up card and the game moves on to the Third
Street. The third street, fourth street and the fifth
street in 5 card stud are played by following the rules
of 7 stud card's third, fifth, sixth and the seventh
street play respectively.
Beginning the Game in Five Card Draw
The game begins with the player to the left of the
dealer putting in some fraction, usually half, of a bet,
called the small blind. The player to his left then puts
in a full bet, called a big blind. Each player then
receives five cards. The objective is to make your best
five-card poker hand. Proceeding clockwise from the big
blind, players have the option to either call, raise or
fold. Once the action goes around the table, the big
blind has the option to check or raise, or call, raise
or fold if there has been a raise already.
A hand of Five Card Draw all starts with the antes, or
forced bets, that every player must put in. Then, the
play passes around the table with each player given the
opportunity to bet, raise a previous bet, call a
previous bet or fold out of the hand. Next, the card
exchange round starts and each player, in turn, trades
some cards, if they want to, for new cards. When all
rounds are done, those that remain show their hands. The
player with the best hand wins. It's that simple.
Variations of Five Card Draw
In some five card draw variations, players all ante
instead of putting up blinds. In these games, a player
is usually required to have at least a pair of jacks in
his hand before he can bet at the pot. If all players
decline to bet, players muck their cards, re-ante and
receive a new deal.
So moving on to the end result, fast reading of the card
is easy for a player even with a little experience. You
can either go for the pot for winning the game if you
have the highest card hand or you can drop. The game can
be dragged to a latter street if you are playing with a
beginner, however, with an expert you will not get that
opportunity.
In this slow game where you don't have much option
people sometimes try to add a little more suspense and
excitement by playing with two hidden cards, the two
opening cards or the first card and the last card,
depending upon the player. These kinds of variations are
only seen in the social and friendly games and the story
remains the same. 5 card stud is losing its grip and 7
card stud is a much preferred alternative.
